In my opinion, the most significant turning point for the allies was when they defeated Germany in the battle of Stalingrad. The battle for the city turned into one of the most brutal in World War Two. The reason this is the most significant turning point is because they took Germanys power. During the battle 91,000 Germans were taken prisoner. Due to loosing so many men and equipment, the Germans therefore did not have enough manpower to cope with the Russians. Germany was then defeated. Once Germany was defeated the Allies became stronger. They were now able to help other countries gain their power back and all fight against the Germans. If Germany won the Battle of Stalingrad they would have been able to take control of Russia, which would have made them even more powerful. Germany had to be defeated soon or Europe would have continued to be taken over by Germany. The Battle of Stalingrad was therefore the most significant turning point for the Allies and allowed Europe to take back what they lost.
